We have begun Unit 2: Building the Covenant Nation. In this unit studies will focus on God's people, the Israelites. Learning begins with the Israelites being an enslaved people and God choosing Moses to lead them out of slavery to freedom, and understanding God's protection and guidance as he gave them the commandments and led them toward the promised land. Students grow to understand God's people as they settle in Canaan, and they hear the stories of Samson and Ruth. This is followed by the royal people of Samuel and David, and ending with students appreciating the gift of wisdom through the story of Solomon.
We are studying earth science and the focus is on Weather in the Atmosphere. Students are focused on the Essential Question: What determines weather on Earth? At the end of this topic, students will be able to apply their new knowledge and practices to predict future weather and climate patterns.

At the end of this topic, students will be able to describe the function of a cell as a whole, and how the parts of the cell contribute to that function.
We have begun studies in life science and the focus is on Genes and Heredity. Students are focused on the Essential Question: How do offspring receive traits from their parents? At the end of this topic, students will apply their new knowledge and practices to make predictions about the possible results of genetic crosses for color and hair length in kittens.
