Saint Peter the Apostle is the patron saint of our school.  He was a native of Bethsaida and he was called Simon Peter before he met Jesus.  He worked as a fisherman alongside his brother Andrew.  It was Andrew who introduced Peter to Jesus.  Jesus called Peter to be his first disciple.  Jesus gave Peter a new name - Cephas or "the rock."  Jesus told Peter:  "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

Saint Peter's feast day is June 29 (Feast of Peter and Paul); he is also honored on February 22 (Feast of the Chair of Peter; and finally, he is honored on November 18 (Feast of the Basilicas of Peter nd Paul.)

Scripture:  Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  (Acts 2:38)
