Saint Peter the Apostle is the patron saint of our school. He was a native of Bethsaida and he was called Simon Peter before he met Jesus. He worked as a fisherman alongside his brother Andrew. It was Andrew who introduced Peter to Jesus. Jesus called Peter to be his first disciple. Jesus gave Peter a new name - Cephas or "the rock." Jesus told Peter: "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
Saint Peter's feast day is June 29 (Feast of Peter and Paul); he is also honored on February 22 (Feast of the Chair of Peter; and finally, he is honored on November 18 (Feast of the Basilicas of Peter nd Paul.)
